Above 250°F, most fluid loss additives start to give ground. Slurries lose water to the formation, gel strength builds unevenly, and the window for gas to invade the annulus gets wider. GMFL-55 was engineered for that environment: high-temperature fluid loss control with gas migration mitigation built in, from 250°F (121°C) up to 400°F (205°C).
In high-pressure, high-temperature wells, fluid loss control and gas migration are tied together. As cement transitions from a fluid to a solid, it loses its ability to transmit hydrostatic pressure. If that transition drags on, or if the slurry dehydrates against the formation while it happens, gas can channel through the setting cement. The result shows up later as sustained casing pressure, a poor bond log, or a remedial job nobody budgeted for.
An additive that only addresses one side of that problem leaves the other exposed. GMFL-55 is designed to handle both, while holding the slurry together at temperatures where many conventional chemistries lose effectiveness.
Gas migration risk is concentrated in the period when cement is building gel strength. GMFL-55 is engineered to shape that period in the operator's favor.
The slurry stays fluid longer after placement, so it continues to transmit hydrostatic pressure to the formation.
Once gel strength starts to build, it moves quickly through the critical transition, shortening the window when gas can enter.
Fluid loss stays controlled at elevated temperature, keeping the slurry intact while the barrier forms.
The non-viscosifying behavior matters more than it might seem. Many fluid loss additives thicken the slurry as a side effect, which raises friction pressure and pushes ECD toward the fracture gradient. GMFL-55 controls fluid loss without adding viscosity, so it can be built into a design without reworking the ECD picture, while still supporting suspension so solids stay where they belong at temperature.
Move the slider to your bottomhole temperature to see where it falls against GMFL-55's rated range.
Inside the rated window. GMFL-55 is designed for this temperature.

GMFL-55 is designed for cementing environments exceeding 250°F (121°C) and up to 400°F (205°C).
GMFL-55 extends zero gel times and promotes a rapid static gel strength (SGS) transition. Keeping the slurry fluid longer, then moving quickly through the transition, shortens the period when gas can enter the setting cement.
No. GMFL-55 is non-viscosifying, so it is neutral to equivalent circulating density while still supporting suspension at elevated temperatures.
GMFL-55 is effective across all API cement grinds.
GMFL-55 is ideal for HPHT primary cementing operations where fluid loss and gas migration control are critical and enhanced slurry stability is required.
