Surface must be clean, dry, sound, and free of dirt, dust, grease, oils, residues, waxes, water, foreign particles, and any other contaminants that may interfere with coating adhesion and intimate contact with the substrate. Prepare the substrate by abrasive blasting, high pressure water/steam cleaning, chemical cleaning, and/or other approved methods to achieve a clean and sound surface, including priming. RiteKyd RK Topcoat is designed to be spray applied using conventional, air-assisted, or airless spray with 0.010”–0.017” tips. During application, the substrate temperature must be 5 degrees above the dew point. Condensation due to substrate temperatures below the dew point can result in flash rusting on prepared steel and negatively impact adhesion to the substrate.
