GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Riteks FloTek™ 1240 is a normal setting water-reducing admixture for concrete. It is designed to facilitate the placing and finishing of concrete while providing control over set time. FloTek 1240 is especially beneficial during hot weather concreting operations when control of setting time and maintenance of placeable consistency are essential.

  • Reduces cracking, shrinkage, surface bleeding, and segregation.
  • Increases compressive and flexural strengths.
  • Resists damage caused by freezing and thawing, and aids in preventing cold joints.
  • Reduces thermal cracking in mass pour concrete.

Recommendations

APPLICATIONS & BENEFITS
Dosage: FloTek 1240 is recommended for use at a dose of 3 to 5 fl. oz. per 100 pounds of cement to meet the requirement of ASTM C 494 Type A. FloTek 1240 is normally added to the concrete mix at the following dosage rates to meet the requirement of ASTM C 494 Types B and D as a function of temperature. Dosage per 100 lbs. of cement:
  • Below 65°F - 5-6 fl oz
  • 65 - 85°F - 6-7 fl oz
  • Above 85°F - 7-8 fl oz
Due to variations in concrete materials, job site conditions and applications, dosages outside of the recommended range may be required. In such cases, contact your local Riteks Construction Chemical Representative. Note: FloTek 1240 does not contain calcium chloride or any chloride-based components and is non-corrosive to reinforcing steel in concrete.

Compatability
FloTek 1240 is compatible with all types Portland cement, class C and F fly ash, silica fume, fibers, approved air entraining, water-reducing, and superplasticizing admixtures. FloTek 1240 can be used in white, colored, and architectural concrete.
