RiLube Flex-1 is a harsh environment water-based lubricant specifically developed to solve torque and drag problems in highly tortuous or extended reach wells that are using highly saturated brines. RiLube Flex-1 is designed to perform in a wide range of brine waters that have different compositions, including high chlorides, high hardness and ammonia contamination. These RiLube Flex-1 can also prevent bit balling, increase the rate of penetration and reduce the risk of differential sticking problems. In such differential sticking situations, RiLube Flex-1 can be added as a concentrated pill in drilling fluid, displaced and spotted across the sticking zone to free stuck pipe. RiLube Flex-1 is readily dispersible in any solids-free drill-in fluid or brine. The use of the lubricant does not affect rheology, filtration behavior or any other mud property. In some cases its addition may even improve the API and HPHT filtration properties.
Treatment Rate, Typical
2 - 4 % by volume depending on the mud density, desired torque and drag reduction and drilling conditions in the mud system. After the initial treatment, treatments can be via continuous injections streams of straight lubricant into the active drilling system or additions can be made by periodic treatments with lubricant sweeps to maintain the desired concentration and effectiveness.
